Fully restored 1940 Chevrolet Special Deluxe 2-Door Town Sedan. This Special Deluxe is the result labor-of-love restoration that was completed in the early 2000's and has been extremely well-maintained since. It is finished in stunning Port Wine Maroon over a Tan interior and has had just one owner for nearly two decades. The odometer shows what is believed to be 65,850 original miles.

Discovered in a large pre-war Chevrolet collection by the previous owner, this particular example was already a very original, very complete rust-free Special Deluxe, which made an excellent candidate for restoration. During the restoration the car was finished in the current Port Wine Maroon with all-new brightwork and chrome. New running boards were installed during restoration and the existing amber driving lamps and halogen sealed beam headlamps were reconditioned. The matching maroon-painted wheels are wrapped in Firestone Deluxe Champion wide whites with re-chromed wheel caps.

With the majority of the body needing minimal work, much of the restoration was focused on the interior. The aging woodgrain was replaced by new polished trim and the floor was stripped and replaced with new tan carpeting. Likewise, the front and rear bench seats were reupholstered in tan cloth and the headliner redone in matching tan.

The 216ci straight-six was returned to its original specification that fires quickly without any drama via its floor-mounted ignition. The correct engine is backed an equally correct all-synchro "Three-on-the-Tree" 3-speed manual transmission that shifts smoothly.

Accompanying this Special Deluxe is an organized binder of extensive restoration receipts, before and after photos, mechanical guides and a reprinted owners manual, shop manual and 1940 sales brochure.

This Special Deluxe models were lavishly appointed passenger cars in 1940 and remain among the most desirable for collectors. This example is restored at a very high level and would be at home among any pre-war collection or museum.
