1961 Chevrolet Corvette Resto-Mod

This 1961 Chevrolet Corvette has been modified with numerous modern updates so its performance now matches its looks. Starting life as a standard 1961 Corvette, the suspension was completely overhauled thanks to the engineers at Newman Car Creations. After years of careful study, company founder Paul Newman figured out how to connect up the suspension from a 4th generation Corvette (1985-1996) to the older style X-Member frame without a need to cut up the original car. These updates give the classic Corvette an independent rear suspension and more performance oriented front A-arms with the corresponding shocks and springs. This setup allows for disc brakes at all four corners as well as a rack and pinion steering system. Additionally this suspension gives greater adjustability to dial in the car for your preferred driving style and provides increased comfort on the road.

Along with the updates in suspension, this Corvette was the recipient of an LS2 V8 engine swap. The standard motor from the 6th generation Corvette, the LS2 features modern fuel injection and optimized ignition controls- providing both great power and reliability. Displacing 6.0-Liters, the LS2 is capable of 400 horsepower and 400 Lb-Ft of torque and has a broad power band, giving plenty of performance throughout the rev range. This example has been upgraded with numerous pieces of chrome trim including the intake and auxiliaries on the front of the engine. It is then backed up with a 4L65E 4-speed automatic transmission with a floor shifter.

The exterior of the car is painted in Mahood Red and features very nice chrome trim around the car. A Brand New $12K set of Custom Fitted C1 10-Hole Hubcap style alloy wheels and white wall tires fill out the arches with four wheel disc brakes with matching red calipers behind them. The interior has been reupholstered in tan leather with a matching steering wheel, dashboard and high-end tan carpets. For greater comfort when cruising, a modern Sony stereo and power windows have been fitted. Finding a classic car that drives as good as it looks isn't easy but thanks to the introduction of modern suspension and an updated engine, this Corvette is ready for miles of top down fun!
