These stunning Chevrolet Bubble Tops are by far the most sought after early 60 Chevys out there, and this one has that look you want. The ebullient bodywork on this Impala is outstanding. Every curve is smooth and unbroken, the flat panels are exceedingly flat, every edge and corner is crisp and sharp, and gaps are excellent everywhere you look. The Impala's otherwise rectilinear lines are softened by its curved roofline, affectionately known as the Bubble Top. The Bubble Top's design distinction was limited to 1961 models, enhancing their collectability today. With impeccable eye-catching red paintwork as a backdrop for the brilliant trim, the beautiful design and perfectly flowing lines of this gem are on full display. Things like the virtually unobtainable front and rear windshields are in excellent shape, and all trim work was either re-chromed or polished. Nobody will ever mistake this Impala for anything else on the road thanks to the iconic triple taillights out back.
Even better than all that beautiful red paint and bodywork is the dazzling red and white interior. Spectacularly restored using period fabrics and patterns, it's both sporty and upscale, and in outstanding condition throughout. Pure 1960s cool covers every surface, from the bright trim on the edges of the seat to the two-tone steering wheel to the beautiful instrument panel. The undercarriage and trunk are spotless and rust-free.
In 1961, Chevrolet was celebrating its golden anniversary and the era of fins had given way to a clean, purposeful look, which projected power and action-readiness. Introduced for the 1958 model year, and one of Chevrolet's most historic vehicles, the Impala has been an American legend for decades. Setting a standard in comfort and value, the Impala was Chevrolet's priciest passenger model through 1965 and became the best-selling full-size vehicle in the U.S. The Impala underwent many distinct styling phases that included iconic grilles and wild rear ends over its production lifetime. The third generation of the Chevrolet Impala was introduced in 1961 and restyled on the GM B platform. Much more trim and boxy than the 1958 models, the new styling was very attractive. A 'bubble top' roofline style was introduced on Sport coupe models in 1961. This "Bubble Top" design had a thin rear roof pillar and an oversized rear window. The 1961 model year is the most iconic of this design and the sedan was rarely ordered, making these classics valued collectibles today.
