1966 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
The C2 Corvette was in production between 1963 and 1967 and is known to be one of the most beautiful sports cars to ever come out of General Motors. Offered in both coupe and convertible, the C2 was the first Corvette to be fitted with an independent rear suspension and was available with numerous engine options to fit your performance needs.
This 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is finished in the best color combination of Nassau Blue over a white and blue interior and is outstandingly well equipped from the factory. Showing 70,169 miles on the odometer, the miles are believed to be original. The signature design feature of this generation Corvette is the exaggerated pontoon fenders both front and rear, and the "stinger" hood, with a distinct line running down the center. The soft convertible top on this example sits beneath a hard tonneau cover behind the seats, and is easily securable and doesn't require an engineer to take it on or off. This example is believed to wear its original set of cast aluminum wheels with knock-offs in the center that are paired with a set of Gold-Line tires. On the outside, a set of side exhaust look great and emit a fantastic burble when you're under way.
The seats and door cards on this car are finished in a stunning shade of white and are accented by a blue dashboard and center console. The C2 Corvette was one of the first cars to really emphasize the "dual cockpit" design with a hump in front of the driver containing the gauge pack, and a second hump in front of the passenger housing the glove box. Between the two sits an analogue clock and AM/FM radio. From the factory, this Corvette was equipped with Air Conditioning and Power Windows, making this car particularly well equipped for 1966. The steering wheel is a beautiful 3-spoke unit with a teak wood rim, which has a truly classic appearance and feels great in the hands when you are on the road. In an effort to fit more drivers, a telescopic steering column was fitted which means you can easily make yourself comfortable behind the wheel.
Under the hood of this Corvette sits a 327ci "Turbo-Fire" V8 that produces 300 horsepower and is equipped with a polished aluminum air cleaner on top. This engine appears to be largely stock and is equipped with a 12 volt alternator, power steering and power brakes. When under way, this engine spins a 2-speed Power-Glide automatic transmission and sends power to the rear wheels. The engine bay is quite tidy and with a bit of cleaning up, you would be happy to pop the hood at any car show.
The Second Generation Corvette is a car that has gained legendary status in the classic car world and is without a doubt, one of the most beautiful cars to ever come out of the American auto industry. This example is from one of the best years for the C2 and has a beautiful specification in Nassau Blue over White and is in excellent condition overall. There is no better vehicle for open air summer cruising than this 1966 Corvette Convertible!
