1967 Chevrolet Malibu Custom Coupe

When the Chevrolet Malibu debuted in 1964, it was the highest trim level available for the Chevelle at the time. With higher quality carpeting, upholstery and larger engines, the Malibu became an aspirational model that represented the best in luxury muscle that the 1960s had to offer. This 1967 Malibu Custom Coupe is a wonderful example that has been carefully modified over the years to provide more performance and enhanced looks.

On the exterior, stunning deep red paint covers the body and has clearly been carried out with tremendous care. The extensive chrome work on the grille and body trim presents very nicely  and shines stunningly in the sunlight. The wheels have been swapped out for a stunning shade of Boyd Coddington Smoothie five spokes that fit perfectly and look mean with a 3-inch suspension drop. Behind the wheels sits a front disc brake conversion which helps slow the car down which is important when you realize what is under the hood.

In the engine bay lies a 350ci V8 that has been built to the 9s and is currently producing over 400 horsepower. Opening the hood, it’s quite an engine to behold. Large Comp Cams branded rocker covers sit atop the motor and red spark plug wires snake between a set of tubular headers. The fuel is carried by elegant braided stainless lines with AN fittings and an MSD ignition box sits on the firewall to provide stronger spark and offers greater reliability than the original ignition system. This engine is then backed up by an ever reliable Turbo 400 automatic transmission that sends the power back to a posi-traction rear end with 3.42 rear gears which offer the perfect middle ground between quick acceleration and highway cruising.

The interior of the car consists of two rows of black bench seats that have been recently reupholstered with a factory look and are in stunning condition. In front of the driver sits a three spoke, wood rimmed steering wheel and an auxiliary tachometer is installed on the steering column. Between the driver and passenger, a purposeful looking B&M QuickSilver shifter allows for precise shifting at the drag strip but will also let you just cruise when the car is in drive.

One of the most classic designs to emerge from 1960s Chevrolet, the 1967 Malibu was destined to be a sought after collectible as soon as they landed on dealer lots. This example, with its performance oriented drivetrain, excellent paintwork and dual bench seats, makes it the perfect classic car for the enthusiast who wants to bring their family along for the ride. Save yourself the hassle and time that it takes to build one yourself, this one is ready to hit the streets today.
