1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS Pro-Touring
No-expense-spared Pro Touring 1968 Camaro RS. Balanced and Blueprinted 427c.i. LS3 V8 with forged internals, backed by a T56 6-speed gearbox and a 12-bolt Eaton positraction 3.73 rear axle. Extensive high-end build by Metal Works in Eugene, OR, with engine prep work handled by Springer Performance. Handling and stopping are simply superb thanks to a 4-link rear suspension, Detroit Speed front sub-frame, front and rear adjustable coil-overs, power rack-and-pinion steering, 6-piston Baer disc brakes with 14-in slotted and drilled rotors and forged 18-in 2-piece wheels supplied by Forgeline. A polished Griffin aluminum radiator and overflow tank, electric cooling, custom headers and exhaust, a twin-disc clutch kit, stainless fuel tank, and Vintage Air A/C combine to help make this Camaro stand apart from the sea of also-ran backyard builds.
No detail was overlooked; witness miles-deep Black show paint and precisely fit brightwork, front and rear spoilers, electrically operated hide-away headlamps, billet hood hinges, and smoked glass (i.e. no window film). The interior features full leather and suede upholstery with Yellow contrast stitching, TMI sport seats, Schroth harnesses, a rear half cage, an NRG quick-release steering wheel and tilt column, square-weave German-style carpeting, sound insulation, and an Alpine audio system with Bluetooth® connectivity.
This is the resto-mod to which few compare, as most just still feel like an old car. An absolute pleasure to drive, it's fast and it's comfortable -- easily $250k+ to replicate. Receipts and build photos available upon request.
