1976 Jeep Wagoneer
The Jeep Wagoneer is one of the most quintessential classic Sport Utility Vehicles every produced. As a matter of fact, many attribute the Wagoneer to pioneering the sport utility class and ultimately being the vehicle that kicked off the craze for them in the United States that exists today. This 1976 example is a beautifully original vehicle with a few updates that was purchased through Wagoneer experts Wagonmaster in Kerrville, TX just last year. This example is painted in a stunning shade of Reef Green Metallic which is accented with a fantastic wood applique accent line across the top of the door line. The purposeful looking chrome bumpers and nerf strips compliment the chrome hubcaps that are affixed to the steel wheels. The great thing about a vintage truck or SUV is that they are some of the most usable classic cars- this would look perfect pulling up your cabin in the woods or with a few canoes strapped to the roof rack for a lake adventure- and it will do it all in great comfort!
Although largely stock, this Wagoneer has been treated to some subtle modifications that, although they can't be seen from the outside, really enhance the ownership experience and will make this Jeep a joy to own. Under the hood, a 360ci V8 from American Motors has been upgraded with a throttle body fuel injection system and electronic ignition. This increases power, fuel economy and reliability while maintaining a very stock look under the hood with the factory air cleaner still in place. A Hydra-Matic automatic gearbox is paired with a Quadra-Trac 4 Wheel Drive system that has both high and low gears and makes this nearly 50 year old truck still plenty capable off-road. Power steering and power disc brakes help wheel the truck around easily and safely and the standard air conditioning has been upgraded with a Vintage A/C compressor which keeps the cabin nice and cool on the hottest summer days.
What really sets this Wagoneer apart from many others that are on sale is the level of originality seen throughout the vehicle. Although there are a few modifications to make it easier and more comfortable to use every day, for the most part, this truck is as it left the factory back in 1976. The beautiful green vinyl interior is all original and presents very nicely for a truck of this age and the exterior has only been painted once. As the car was delivered new and spent the majority of its life in Texas, it has remained largely rust free and dry-a rarity for these trucks. Believed to have been owned by just four people over its whole life, this truck features service records from new, through 2012 and has an original owners manual as well as some of the period Jeep sales literature. Showing just 58,720 miles which are believed to be original, this truck presents a unique opportunity to acquire a real time capsule that has clearly been cherished since it was new and is ideal for making memories with the whole family.
