Powered by a 5.4L Supercharged V8 engine producing 550hp/500lb-ft of torque and backed by a Ricardo 6-Speed transmission. Features on this amazing Ford GT consist of Dry-Sump Lubrication, Aluminum Space Frame, Drilled Brembo Brakes, Stainless Exhaust, HID Lamps, Fog lamps, Carbon Sport Seats with leather Trim, A/C, Leather Steering Wheel with Tilt/Telescope, and In-Dash CD. Optional equipment consists of Forged Multi-Spoke BBS Wheels, Painted Racing Stripes, and Red Brakes Calipers. From the moment the first of these custom-built cars were delivered in late 2004, the Ford GT set the supercar world on its ear with its supercharged 550 horsepower V-8, 205-mph top speed and exotic styling inspired by the historic Ford GT-40 race cars. An ultra-high-performance, mid-engine, two-seat sports car with an aluminum space frame chassis, aluminum body panels, and a contemporary interior, the Ford GT showcased the engineering prowess of the Ford Special Vehicle Team and will forever stand as among the most memorable cars ever produced in Ford's 100-plus year history.
The Ford GT featured many new and unique technologies, including superplastic-formed frame, aluminum body panels, roll-bonded floor panels, a friction stir welded center tunnel, covered by a magnesium center console, a "ship-in-a-bottle" gas tank, a capless fuel filler system, one-piece door panels, and an aluminum engine cover with a one-piece carbon fiber inner panel.
The mid-mounted 5.4 L Modular V8 engine is all-aluminum with a Lysholm twin screw-type supercharger. It features a forged rotating assembly housed in an aluminum block designed specifically for the GT program. A dry sump oiling system is employed, allowing the engine to sit low in the car's frame. The DOHC 4-valve heads are a revision of the 2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R cylinder heads (with slightly increased wall casting thickness in the exhaust port). The camshafts have unique specifications, with more lift and duration than those found in the Shelby GT500. Power output is 550hp and generates 500 lb*ft of torque. A Ricardo six-speed manual transmission is fitted featuring a helical limited-slip differential. Brakes are four-piston aluminum Brembo calipers with cross-drilled and vented rotors at all four corners. When the rear canopy is opened, the rear suspension components and engine are visible.
