Nearly devoid of extraneous trim, the low, smooth-bodied 2006 Corvette looks the part of a serious performance machine. Many familiar styling cues are used on the redesigned version, but this model is the first Corvette since 1962 to be equipped with fixed headlights. Corvettes had pop-up lights for more than four decades. The 6.0-liter LS2 V-8 generates 400 horsepower and 400 pounds-feet of torque --- that's an additional 50 hp and 40 lbs-ft more than it's predecessor, the LS1 engine. It was, at the time, the most powerful standard engine ever installed in a Corvette. The cylinder heads were derived from the ones used in the Z06 engine.
This Corvette's interior welcomes both driver and passenger with remarkable craftsmanship and attention to detail throughout. The leather-swathed, deeply contoured and firmly bolstered front seats are in fantastic condition, and are power adjustable and heated. The upgraded Bose Premium Audio System includes a 6-disc CD player and MP3 capability.
