2006 Rolls-Royce Phantom 
 
Rolls-Royce has always been a manufacturer whose name is synonymous with quality and luxury and the Phantom line has always sat above the rest as the ultimate, no expense spared automobile. Starting production of the Phantom 1 in 1925, the model line has been in and out of production for nearly 100 years and has evolved through 8 iterations during that time. When the Phantom VII debuted in 2003, it was perhaps the largest departure from the lineage yet but the design principles stayed the same-with quality and luxury being the paramount focus. Just a few years before the car’s debut, Rolls-Royce had been acquired by BMW and the Phantom was to be their first big project together- this meant that it needed to be especially impressive and as the first new design for Rolls-Royce in the 2000s, show what was to be coming from the marque going forward.
 
This 2006 Phantom is a fantastic example of everything Rolls-Royce could do at the time and with less than 4,000 miles from new, is in showroom condition. Painted an eye-catching shade of Platinum Gray, the visual presence of this Phantom on the road is tremendous. The signature Rolls-Royce grille of polished slats topped with the famous “Flying Ecstasy” grille ornament are iconic and make people know you have truly arrived. Another noteworthy feature of the Phantom is the floating center caps in the middle of the huge 21” standard wheels- these keep the RR logo always facing the correct direction even while the car is in motion. One piece of old world charm that Rolls-Royce kept in their new car is the traditional carriage or “suicide” doors which has the back doors hinged from the rear to aid in easier ingress and egress from the back seats. Rolls-Royce has never put an emphasis on performance but is well aware that a luxury car needs to be able to whisk its passengers along without so much as a hint of struggle. In light of this, they have equipped the Phantom with a Twin-Turbocharged 6.8-liter V12 putting out over 450 horsepower which is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission which provides plenty of motivation-even for a car weighing more than 5,500lbs. 
 
Although the exterior is particularly striking, the interior is always where Rolls-Royce has put their primary focus. Supple black leather coats nearly every interior surface-the leather only comes from select ranches with a particular climate and each hide is hand selected and turned away for any number of small issues to insure flawless quality. The interior wood is also specially selected and each piece has been polished to a mirror like finish-this example features Black Tulip Veneer which matches the black leather very nicely. On the back of the two front seats are a pair of fold out picnic tables to be used by the passengers in the rear-these too are matching wood and prove remarkably useful for getting some work done while being chauffeured around. When the doors are opened, a Rolls-Royce umbrella is situated within the door and at the touch of a button is released- even the umbrellas on the car are special- having been Teflon coated to help them dry out faster when they are placed back in their holders. It is clear that when Rolls-Royce designed the Phantom, they spared no expense with making every aspect special. This 2006 Phantom showcases all of those things fantastically and with less than 4,000 miles, presents a great opportunity to get the pinnacle of luxury in nearly brand new condition.
