The 997.2 series was a huge advancement in the 911 range offering an all new 3.8-liter all-aluminum engine with direct injection, a revised intake and exhaust systems, and Porsche's VarioCam Plus intake-valve timing and lift system. This new engine equipped the "S" models with a scintillating redline of 7,250 rpm, producing a mouth watering 385hp and 310 lb-ft torque in the process, all while passing the LEV-II (Low Emissions) certification. This second generation of the 997 series also introduced for the first time Porsche's award winning 7-speed Doppelkupplungsgetriebe ("PDK"), twin clutch semi-automatic gearbox, affording the driver with lighting quick gear changes by the steering wheel mounted paddles.
