The combination is good enough for a 3.7-second zero-to-60-mph dash, according to Mercedes, with a top speed of 196 mph. The all-new design of the handcrafted 503-hp 4.0-liter V-8 thrusts power into a new era. Twin turbos mounted inside the "V" force-feed massive boost to each Direct Injected cylinder, and express-deliver 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. All 479 lb-ft of its torque is unleashed at just 1,750 rpm, with a growling exhaust note you can revel in or reel in, as you wish. It's a fantastic engine: docile when it needs to be, blindingly powerful when called upon. It makes plenty of its own music, especially when you push the button that opens the exhaust flaps and amplifies all that glorious V-8 exhaust noise.

With AMG DYNAMIC SELECT, a twist of a knob on the console dials in any of four modes. Each one adapts the throttle maps, gear changes, suspension setup, exhaust sound and more to your driving desires, from Comfort to Sport to Race. An Individual mode lets you make your own mode. And buttons for each element give you total control at any time. Keep it in Comfort mode and the GT is as easy to drive as the larger, calmer SL touring roadster. Start twisting the knob toward Sport or Sport Plus and you allow more feedback through the suspension, require more effort through the steering wheel and generate faster responses from the transmission. Twist it all the way to Race mode and the GT-S turns into a track monster --- shifts become extremely quick, torque is available instantly and the roar from the twin pipes out the back of the coupe becomes formidable.

Inside, styling is every bit as refined as you'd expect, with the finest leather coverings exuding a luxurious feel to the cabin. Though the cabin has a function-oriented layout, upscale materials on the doors and dashboard, and remarkable craftsmanship and attention to detail throughout welcomes both driver and passenger. Brushed aluminum door sill inserts welcome you into the world of AMG performance with backlit logos.

Directly inspired by racing, the deeply contoured AMG Performance seats feature integrated head restraints with aluminum accents and AMG badges. In addition to the customary power adjustments, the substantial side bolsters in the cushion and backrest are also power-adjustable for optimal lateral support. A 3-position memory system for each seat also stores the power steering column and side mirror settings for the driver. Three-stage heating is standard. Buttery-soft Exclusive Nappa leather envelops not only the seats, door armrests and center console lid, but also the topstitched dash, console and doors. The AMG Affalterbach crest is embossed into the console lid. Six color motifs are available, all complemented by a rich black DINAMICA microsuede headliner and ambient cabin lighting.
